In this guide, you will learn how to access your VM instances through the OpenVPN connection. For this step, you will need your cluster wide username and password. Users can change their password through the Promox Client. Select Account > Password > Change Password
.
You will also need a tronnet.ovpn
file which is included in an email to your cluster email account.
Please install the OpenVPN Connect application for windows, for macOS, or for linux using the instructions on the OpenVPN website. Linux users may be able to use their graphical network manager instead.
After successful installation of the OpenVPN Connect application, run the application. Then, drag and drop the tronnet.ovpn
file onto the OpenVPN Connect application. Then perform the following steps:
Profile Name
value to something memorable.Username
field.Save password
option.Password
field.For Linux users, you may wish to enable Use this connection only for resources on its network
under IPv4
settings. Otherwise it may use the VPN as a full tunnel despite not redirecting the gateway.
At this point, ensure that the Username
and Password
fields are set properly. Finally:
Connect
button.At this point, you should be connected to the Tronnet VPN and should have access to your instances.
To check connectivity, the following should be true:
ping
command with an instance targeted should return a response quickly.If the VPN connection is successful, you will have access to your cluster instances as if they were on your local network!
